With their soft yet textural look and feel, one could be forgiven for thinking that the new Chateau rugs are made from silk. Think again. These faded beauties are made from a revolutionary, durable fibre, called Tencel. Tencel is a cellulosic fibre, regenerated from the wood of a Eucalyptus tree. These fibres are said to be more absorbent than cotton, softer than silk and cooler than linen. They have excellent moisture management properties; readily absorb moisture and quickly release it. The growth of bacteria on Tencel fibres is extremely low compared to that of synthetic fibres and cotton.
