Bedroom Secrets

Want your room to look more luxe? We show you how.

Who doesn’t dream of owning a blissful bedroom? One that puts the top hotel suites to shame? A dreamy designer bedroom could be yours if you follow one (or all) of the tips.

Dress your Bed:

One of the easiest ways to upgrade your bedroom is to introduce some good quality, beautiful scatter cushions into the room. But remember, how you place them is key. According to, the pillows you sleep on at night should be propped against the bedhead and overlaid with scatter cushions in order of height. When styling your scatters, keep this golden rule in mind: Any pillows placed on your bed shouldn’t take up more than a quarter of your total bed length.  Mix and match patterns and colours for a high impact effect or opt for varying shades of grey, taupe and white in textured fabrics for something more subdued.

 Upgrade Your Lampshade:

Freshen up tired and dated bedroom décor with new lampshades for your night lights. Cover your existing lampshade in a bold colour, print or textured neutral fabric to liven things up.

Replace Curtains:

Curtains that are too short can make a room look unfinished and messy. Investing in a good pair of drapes instantly ups the ante in any room. For a polished result ensure your curtains just touch the floor or brush it. If you’d like a more opulent look, opt for curtains that break or pool on the floor.
